Digital: MP4 file (or other, as required) to: Flash drive/USB, hard drive, upload to cloud with download link. You may provide a new (in an unopened package) flash drive or VHS for Life can supply (additional charge).
Standard DVD-R: lasts 10 – 15 years.
Archival Grade DVD-R: This has a hard coating on the recording side to protect surface from scratches. In proper environmental conditions, these discs are designed to last as long as 100 years. For DVD transfers, we recommend archival grade for preserving family memories.
Our DVDs and CDs are professional quality discs with a white printable face for labelling in a white paper flip-style low profile case.
The majority of our clients now chose a digital format transferred onto a flash drive. This option is most flexible for viewing treasured memories on the computer, TV, cell phones, sharing with family and friends or additional editing.
All analog media formats deteriorate over time. Tapes will show evidence of degradation even under the best of circumstances, after 10 – 12 years. And most people no longer own a VCR, camcorder or tape or record player to play their treasured memories. At VHS for Life, we will help you preserve your memories in a format that will last longer, so you can re-live those forgotten family home videos, records, and slides. Your memories will be safe in our hands!
We know that your movies mean a lot to you and taking them in to be converted can be stressful. That is why we offer quick turnaround times with the work completed right here in Peterborough. Big retailers will ship your tapes off to be converted elsewhere.
In addition to our quality assurance processes and manual spot checking of each DVD or USB transfer, we offer a 30-day guarantee with each transfer, correcting any unlikely errors.
There are two options:
1) We can rent you a VCR at $50 per day. We will reduce this fee by half if you use our services. A deposit of $100 is required. The deposit will be returned in full upon return of the equipment in the same condition it was received.
OR
2) We can view your VHS tapes $5 per tape. We will not digitize tapes that are blank, contain TV shows or movies.
